EHESS Vieille Charité Social Sciences Resource Center

Description

The Social Sciences Resource Center was set up by EHESS and the CNRS to support their academic and research activities located at the Vieille Charité site in Marseille. Over the past few years, the library has developed its holdings in collaboration with 2 CNRS research centers( UMR): the Norbert Alias Research Center, specialized in Anthropology, Communications, History and Sociology, and the GREQAM (Aix-Marseille Center for Quantitative Economics). The library collection covers the fields of anthropology, economics, history, and sociology, with special focus on:

  • Cultural forms and models, the sociology of culture and communications
  • Gender and social life, sociology of the family, gender, and sexuality
  • Social and Life Sciences: knowledge and technology
  • Modern and contemporary history, the history of science and public health, colonial history, historiography …
  • General sociology, urban sociology, the sociology of religions ...
  • Epistemology of the social sciences
  • Comparitive study of political spaces and objects
  • General anthropology, the anthropology of Africa, the anthropology and sociology of development and public health ...
  • Macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics, international economics, financial economics, game theory, statistics

  • Urban, regional, insutrial, labor and environmental economics
  • Development and economic growth

Holdings comprise approximately 15,000 documents including books, PhD theses, DEA, Master's and DESS dissertations, research reports, and offprints as well as a wide range of French and international periodicals in the social sciences: 365 journal titles including 110 current subscriptions and a selection of rare and specialized periodicals.

Access terms

The Vieille Charité Resource center is open to the public.

Lending terms

Loans are reserved exclusively to EHESS students and alumni, and faculty and researchers from the two participating research centers (UMR). Only books may be checked out. All other documents must be consulted on site.
