EHESS Audiovisual and Image Department Video Library

Description

The EHESS video library provides students and researchers with a collection of films (around 1400 documents), recordings of seminars and conferences, and a collection of printed resources including books and articles about the cinema and the animated image as an object of research or in connection with the social sciences. The films are primarily documentaries in the field of social sciences, with an emphasis on ethnography and anthropology; they also include sociological, historical and biographical documentaries. Since 2012, the EHESS Video Library has been home to the French Society of Visual Anthropology (Société Française d’Anthropologie Visuelle, SFAV)  whose catalogue includes over 100 films, primarily the "great foreign classics" 1914-2013, that have marked the history of anthropological documentary film.

Audiovisual documents are primarily in VHS and DVD formats.

The Library provides users with DVD, VHS, DV, DVCAM and Betacam readers.
